Practical guide
Choose Claude’s font and colour mode
Compare the same answer in different fonts and themes before choosing your reading setup.
Based on product documentation. Examples and suggested prompts are editorial advice.
Before you start
Sign in to Claude in a browser. Keep a short chat open so you can compare your changes with familiar text.
Choose a font
- Select your name or initials in the lower-left corner.
- Open Settings.
- Select Appearance.
- Find Chat font.
- Compare Default, Match System and Dyslexic Friendly.
- Return to your chat after each change.
Choose a colour mode
In the same Appearance panel, use Color mode to compare Light, Match System and Dark. Match System follows your device theme. You can collapse the sidebar with the control at its upper-right corner.
Try a reading check
Read a five-item list, move between two answers and copy a sentence. Notice whether you lose your place, need to lean closer or find punctuation difficult to distinguish. Keep the font that feels easier in these tasks.
If your screen differs
Compare the browser version with the app you normally use. If Chat font is absent, use browser zoom or your device text settings. Return to Default and Match System to undo this setup.
Availability and limits
These instructions follow Anthropic’s appearance documentation. They do not establish that every mobile app has the same controls. A font’s name does not mean it will suit every reader or resolve a reading difficulty.
Sources and checks
Documentation checked: 2026-10-10. Product steps have not been tested in a signed-in vendor app for this edition.
